HTC One: An Android phone that works as good as it looks

Where the HTC One stands out is in Sense, the smartphone's bold new user interface. Sense essentially turns your home screen into a stylish, news-oriented feed. The heart of the Sense home screen is not too different from a news aggregator such as Flipboard. You choose the topics you want in your feed, connect your own social networks, and let Sense do the rest. For starters, you're confined to a handful of news sources hand-picked by HTC, which means that you can't toss your favorite blogs and sites into the mix. Nor can you view any other vital information from your phone on the home screen, such as text messages, chat notifications or Google Now cards. It seems like a missed opportunity

After Boston: The pros and cons of surveillance cameras
Even after the identification of the Boston bombing suspects through grainy security-camera images, officials say that blanketing a city in surveillance cameras can create as many problems as it solves. A network of cameras on city streets and other public spaces increases the chances of capturing a criminal on video but can generate an overwhelming amount of evidence to sift through. The cameras make some people feel more secure, knowing that bad guys are being watched. But privacy advocates and other citizens are uneasy with the idea that Big Brother is monitoring their every public move.

Apple's iMessage is the DEA's worst nightmare

The Facebook phone is here -- sort of

The long-rumored "Facebook phone" is closer to becoming a reality, after the social network on Thursday unveiled Facebook Home, a custom homescreen for Android smartphones. Facebook Home integrates all of the social network's services into the operating system of Android phones. Instead of having to download and call upon apps to get to services such as Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and Facebook Camera, access to those features is simply baked into Facebook Home. After a user downloads Facebook Home to an Android phone, all of Facebook's services can be easily reached from virtually anywhere on the device

Make A Gift

3/20/13

Facebook is testing the idea of supporting the use of hashtags in posts to the social network, according to reports in The Wall Street Journal and other publications. Facebook has yet not made any comments about the reports. Hashtags, unique and often cryptic terms preceded by a hash mark ("#"), are specially tracked and aggregated on Twitter as they would presumably be on Facebook. Twitter shows which tags are trending, and clicking on a hashtag brings up other posts with the same tag.

A soaked phone or tablet has traditionally meant shelling out for a costly replacement. But new technology has moved beyond waterproof cases and "rugged" cell phones designed to withstand rough conditions. Devices highlighted at this year's Mobile World Congress and Consumer Electronics Show suggest the future is bright for phones and tablets that are both stylish and waterproof -- or at least water-resistant. The level of waterproofing is already incorporated in a few Sony smartphones such as the Acro S and Advance, and most recently with the Xperia Z.

Figuring out the future of online privacy                          2/29/13
What level of privacy will we have online in the future? Public changes to privacy policies, like the ones that make news when Facebook or Google change their settings, are just a small part of the story. Companies that provide free services, such as search engines or social networks, have to strike the right balance between respecting their customers' privacy concerns and serving advertisers. For Web titans, the money still flows in from advertisers, not consumers. Facebook made $4.2 billion, or 84% of its revenue, from online advertising in 2012. Google saw $43.6 billion in advertising last year, accounting for almost 95% of the company's reve

Behind Facebook's tax bill                                                 2/25/13
A tax group says Facebook, which made $1 billion in U.S. profit before taxes last year, will pay no U.S. income tax for 2012. Tax experts say that could possibly be true and if so, it's perfectly legal . Citizens for Tax Justice, the advocacy group, says Facebook will receive a tax refund of nearly $430 million as a result of those options.

From 3D graphics to biometric scans: How your smartphone will get smarter                                                                2/21/13

Today's smartphones are much more than phones they are powerful, networked multimedia computers, and over the next 10 years they'll get more advanced. As a result, mobility is transforming many day-to-day processes including how we sell, communicate, collaborate, train, and educate. Your smartphone will have a 3-D display and a 3-D web browser, and you won't need special glasses to view it. So instead of just viewing web pages on your smart phone, you'll be able to go into environments, just as you do on devices like the Xbox. Alternatively, you'll be able to see things sticking out from the screen, again without the special glasses. So the 3-D web on your smartphone will be a game-changer for business. Rather than have to remember numerous passwords, you will be able to access data and sites on your smartphone using multiple biometric authentications.

I did the same on New years Eve, I was with my family I had a really fun time with them. But pretty much I didn't do anything besides just watch tv and go to the mall . (:
